ہم قصہ مختصر نہیں تھے

ورق جلدی پلٹ دیے تم نے

"Hum qissa mukhtasir nahi the

Waraq jaldi palat diye tum ne."

وہ مجھ سے پہلے بھی کسی اور کا تھا

اور میرے بعد بھی کسی اور کا ہے

"Woh mujh se pehle bhi kisi aur ka tha

Aur mere baad bhi kisi aur ka hai."

جو دعا سے نکل جائے

اسے بددعا میں کیا یاد رکھنا

"Jo dua se nikal jaye

Usay baddua mein kya yaad rakhna."

اس سے محبت ہے یہ کہہ نہیں سکتا

کیونکہ وہ کسی ایک کا ہو کر رہ نہیں سکتا

"Us se mohabbat hai yeh keh nahi sakta

Kyunke woh kisi ek ka hokar reh nahi sakta."

بے وفاوں کی محفل لگے گی آج

وقت پر آجانا مہمان خصوصی ہو تم

"Bewafaon ki mehfil lagegi aaj

Waqt par aajana, mehman-e-khususi ho tum."

فاتحہ پڑھنے بھی مت آنا

یہ حق بھی کھو چکے ہو تم

"Fatiha parhne bhi mat aana

Yeh haq bhi kho chuke ho tum."

جب وفا کا ذکر ہوتا ہوگا

تجھے شرم تو آتی ہوگی

"Jab wafa ka zikr hota hoga

Tujhe sharam to aati hogi."

سکھا دی بیوفائی بھی تمہیں ظالم زمانے نے

کہ تم جو سیکھ لیتے ہو ہم ہی پر آزماتے ہو

"Sikha di be-wafaai bhi tumhein zaalim zamaane ne

Ke tum jo seekh lete ho, hum hi par aazmaate ho."

تنہا زندگی گزر سکتی ہے

مگر بے وفا کے ساتھ نہیں

"Tanha zindagi guzhar sakti hai

Magar be-wafa ke saath nahi."

اب مایوس کیوں ہو اس کی بے وفائی پر

تم خود ہی کہتے تھے وہ سب سے الگ ہے

"Ab mayoos kyun ho us ki be-wafaai par

Tum khud hi kehte the woh sab se alag hai."

لوگوں کو آہ لگتی ہے

تجھے میرا صبر لگے گا

"Logon ko aah lagti hai

Tujhe mera sabr lage ga."

ہم نے تو اک بے وفا کی خاطر

دنیا اور آخرت دونوں تباہ کر دیں

"Hum ne to ek be-wafa ki khatir

Duniya aur aakhirat dono tabah kar di."

دعاۓ بد نہیں دیتا فقط اتنا ہی کہتا ہوں

کہ جس سے دل لگے تیرا وہ تجھ سا بے وفا نکلے

"Dua-e-bad nahi deta, faqat itna hi kehta hoon

Ke jis se dil lage tera, woh tujh sa be-wafa nikle."

میں نے جس کے پیچھے اپنا آپ گنوایا

میرے سوا ہر شخص سے نبھائی اس نے

"Main ne jis ke peeche apna aap gungwaaya

Mere siwa har shakhs se nibhaayi us ne."

اب کیوں پوچھتی ہو حال میرا

تم نے ہی تو کہا تھا کہ غیر ہوں میں

"Ab kyun poochhti ho haal mera

Tum ne hi to kaha tha ke ghair hoon main."
